XTRACT - The man formerly known as Warp, X-Stream & X3 amongst a few others has been in the game since 95, droppin' beats left right and centre, playing different styles to different crowds all over the Midlands.
After a brief love affair with the music of Kylie, Paula Abdul, Debbie Gibson, Guns n' Roses and Aha, xtract found his musical feet around 1992. Sitting round at DJ Crazy's house (his old sparing partner), waiting for a turn on "Donkey Kong Country" (which never seemed to happen), xtract sat listening to some tapes that Crazy's older brother had been bringing back from raves. At first the music didn't really do it for the man, who had a love for the beats of Michael Jackson & MC Hammer. Then one day he suddenly turned and saw the light in the dark side and the underground became his new home!
Carl Cox, Ratty & The Prodigy all played a strong part in the formation of xtracts new found musical mind. After reading "The Prodigy - Electronic Punks" & listening to far too much good music than is healthy for someone who should be concentrating on their Physics homework, xtract decided to buy a pair of decks and his DJ era began!
xtract has played all sorts of music throughout his time. It's usually had a strong underground focus, with the techy and dirty being favoured over the main stream. Saying this he's becoming quite partial to a bit of jazzy funky chilled out stuff these days too and even owns albums by bands such as the Fratellis and The White Stripes.
The System Check Radio show started in February 2003 and since then xtract has been droppin' beats over the airwaves alongside Tidal, Lubi J & Jay Le Roc.
From Hardcore to House, Breaks to Big Beat, Drum n' Bass to Darkcore, Trance to Techno and Gabba to Garage xtract has been everywhere in the dance music scene and continues to do so.
